Greece - Christmas

In Greece, there is a belief of creatures called Kallikantzaroi playing pranks or make havoc of the home during the twelve days of Christmas, between Christmas itself and Epiphany on January 6th. In order to keeps the creatures away, some people burn their old shoes which produce a nasty smell to keep the Kallikantzaroi from entering by the chimney.

Greece - Bone

In Greece, people use to carry a little bone of a bat in their wallet. It is believed that the bone will protect them from the evil eye.
